MEDS 4011M: Disaster Preparedness (111/9103)

Enrolling in the Disaster Preparedness and Response elective is a strong first step to being ready to volunteer in a disaster as a practicing physician or even now as a student. The elective can be taken entirely online from your personal computer hosted on canvas.case.edu (this is a new platform this year, so please be patient if there are glitches) ? Completion of all components takes approximately 12-16 hours and can be done on a self-study schedule ? Students in the elective may contact Dr. Dahl Grove for potential opportunities to participate in local, regional, and hospital disaster drills Students who complete the elective can receive three nationally accredited certifications in disaster response provided by FEMA. This elective counts for non-clinical credit (2-weeks only). The FEMA courses are required upon course completion the certificate copies should be emailed to Dr. Dahl Grove. NOTE: Though available to students in year 1 and 2, if taken, the elective does not count toward graduation requirements and will not be recorded on your transcript. You can repeat in year 3 and 4 for credit.
